Welcome to Fun Sun Vacations...

Thank you for your interest in Fun Sun Vacations. We want to welcome you to this website. We are proud to be one of Canada's major vacation providers to these popular destinations: Hawaii, mainland USA, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Europe and South America. We also feature the "Fun Ships" of Carnival Cruise Lines. Fun Sun Vacations celebrated 50 years in business in 2006! Our staff of over 150 people was excited to celebrate this milestone in the company's history.

Fun Sun is a 100% Canadian-owned travel wholesaler/tour operator that finds its roots in rather humble but friendly beginnings in southern Alberta. Today it has grown to a national level and is one of Canada's top three tour wholesalers. It is the result of the untiring efforts by three generations of the Bruinsma family and the company's many dedicated employees over the course of the past 50 years.
We've compiled answers to some of the frequently asked questions about Fun Sun Vacations. It should help you identify who we are and just what Fun Sun Vacations signifies.

How do I purchase a Fun Sun Product? Fun Sun Vacations is a travel wholesaler and it's product are only sold though retail travel agencies. Travel Agents are the true travel counselors - knowledgeable advisors who benefit their clients with their professional knowledge of destinations, hotels, resorts and travel wholesalers. The majority of travel agencies across Canada display our brochures, plus recommend our products and services. You can purchase any of the great Fun Sun travel products from any travel agent in Canada.
As a smart travel consumer, you will want to search for a highly qualified travel agent in the same way that you seek a competent accountant, dentist or other professional - just ask at work, your friends or relatives for referrals. Where is Fun Sun located? Fun Sun Vacations has two office locations, one in Edmonton and the other in Toronto.

As well in a number of our destinations, we have our own staff or contract with local receptive companies to provide customer assistance. For reservations, please call or visit your preferred travel agency.

AT FUN SUN VACATIONS, we do everything possible to arrange the most convenient and comfortable flights and accommodations for our valued clients. If you would like to customize any of your vacation arrangements, just let us know. If you want a specific airline or a particular hotel room, we will be happy to relay your special requests whenever possible. Please discuss this with your local travel consultant at time of booking as we work with your travel consultant who is specially qualified to book any of our travel services for you. Your travel consultant will be pleased to explain the services included in the price of your travel arrangements as well as any relevant information and documentation that is necessary for your journey and return to Canada.

TRAVEL AGENCIES provide a valuable service and travel counselling to prospective travellers. Fun Sun Vacations only accepts bookings through travel agencies and therefore we encourage you to make your Fun Sun Vacations' reservations with a travel consultant who understands your individual and particular needs. Travel agencies are not owned or controlled by Fun Sun Vacations. Your deposits and payments for Fun Sun Vacations' services are to be paid to the travel agency with which you made your reservation. Travel documents will be issued only if and when full payment has been received by Fun Sun Vacations from the travel agency. Refunds for cancelled or unused services will normally be made to the same travel agency on the basis of the amount actually received by Fun Sun Vacations less any applicable cancellation fees and charges. You are responsible for obtaining from your travel agency any monies either retained by the agency or received by the agency from Fun Sun Vacations.

IMPORTANT: In booking a Fun Sun Vacations holiday, you and those on whose behalf you are booking become party to a contract with Fun Sun Vacations and those companies providing the included services. It is your responsibility to obtain and understand all applicable terms and conditions before making your reservation. Carefully read all of the following terms and conditions to ensure that you and all of those for whom you are booking understand the terms of this contract. Making a reservation with Fun Sun Vacations conveys your full agreement to our complete terms and conditions as well as any other terms and conditions that may be imposed by the suppliers of any tour components you purchase.

Prices and Payments

PRICES shown on the Fun Sun Vacations web site and in our brochures are expressed in Canadian dollars, unless otherwise stated, and are subject to change without notice. Fun Sun Vacations will quote its best price available at the time of booking for the desired travel dates, duration and inclusions. Product descriptions on the Fun Sun Vacations web site and in our brochures indicate features included. Please confirm that all travel components that you purchase for your vacation appear on the Fun Sun Vacations' invoice provided to your travel consultant.

TAXES AND IMPOSED FEES: All travel services are subject to various additional charges not shown, such as: Canadian Air Transportation Tax, NavCanada charges, departure taxes, transportation and airport user fees, hotel service charges, port charges, mandatory gratuities, and the Goods and Services Tax (G.S.T.). The exact amounts vary by destination, product and season. Not all taxes are available for prepayment at time of booking. In addition, passengers are responsible for any tax increase, new taxes or mandatory fees imposed.

PRICE CHANGES: Fun Sun Vacations reserves the right to change prices in the event of any price increases beyond the control of Fun Sun Vacations including, but not limited to, the price of fuel and/or currency fluctuations or government taxes or levies. Should prices increase by more than 7% between the time of booking and time of travel passengers may cancel without penalty, unless the price increase is the result of government taxation or a fuel surcharge approved by a transportation agency. Fun Sun Vacations cannot guarantee any price reductions announced by its suppliers will be available to bookings previously booked and confirmed.

DEPOSITS will be required for each of the travel components you purchase. Full payment is required on all airfares and may be as early as time of booking. Deposits for all land arrangements are 10% of the total costs. During high season travel a full payment may be required at the time of booking, regardless of how far in advance the booking is made. Deposits for cruises are per person, vary by cruise line and may be based on the cruise duration. See the cruise section for complete details. All deposits plus the applicable optional insurance premiums are payable at the time of booking and must be received by Fun Sun Vacations within two (2) days from the time of booking in order to guarantee the reservation.

FINAL PAYMENT is required in Fun Sun Vacations' office 30 days prior to departure. Final payment for an itinerary including a cruise may be due earlier. See the cruise section for complete details. Please ensure that payment is made to your travel consultant well in advance to allow time for processing. If your booking is requested and confirmed within 30 days of departure, a full payment guarantee will be required at the time of booking and the payment must be received in Fun Sun Vacations' office within two (2) days of confirmation. A guarantee of payment is the purchaser's acceptance of the travel arrangements as requested at the full price quoted. If the purchaser subsequently decides to cancel after space is confirmed, cancellation charges will apply. Failure to comply with the above payment requirements will result in the automatic cancellation of your booking and cancellation charges will apply.

FINAL PAYMENT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: Your authorization of the use of your credit card to your travel consultant binds you to the terms and conditions of this contract whether or not you have actually signed the draft. Verbal authorization of charges to your credit card allows Fun Sun Vacations to process your reservation at quoted costs. A letter of confirmation signed by the cardholder must be kept on file by the travel agency authorizing the use of the credit card without a signature. In the event that a cardholder refuses to honour a charge, the travel agency will be held responsible.

GROUP, CONVENTION OR INCENTIVE TRAVEL generally involves stricter term and conditions and may be subject to higher prices. Contract your travel consultant for complete details. Some airlines and hotels may impose other terms, conditions and rates if multiple individual reservations appear to form group travel or an individual reservation is part of a hosted convention.

Child Rates and Policies

CHILD RATES, in most cases, apply to children 2 through 11 years of age; however, the applicable ages may vary by supplier. Children, unless stated otherwise, are restricted to sharing a room with a full-fare paying guest and must utilize existing bed space. The total number of occupants in a guest room cannot exceed the maximum allowed. The availability of cribs, cots or any other special guest services cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges payable directly to the supplier.

INFANTS, (0 -­ 2 years of age) may travel for free depending upon the destination and the carrier's policy. Free infant travel does not guarantee a seat for the infant on any airline, tour bus or train nor does it permit any baggage allowance. If an infant turns two while in destination, a round-trip child fare must be purchased prior to travel. Infants under 6 weeks may require a doctor's certificate to travel. Please check with Fun Sun Vacations for individual supplier policies.

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

CHANGES: If you wish to change the travel arrangements made, Fun Sun Vacations will make every effort to satisfy your request. If such a change is permitted after the reservation is guaranteed or deposit is paid, a $50 administration fee, plus any additional charges imposed by our suppliers (i.e. airline change fees), will be applied per occurrence. Note: Correction for name spelling is also considered a change to a booking. Change fees are non-refundable, non-insurable and subject to G.S.T. A vacation may not be changed, extended or shortened after departure without prior approval from Fun Sun Vacations and/or its various suppliers.

ALL CANCELLATIONS: If you wish to cancel your trip, cancellation fees apply. Fun Sun Vacations and/or its suppliers begin to incur costs on your booking from the time it is received. Cancellation fees are a genuine assessment of the administrative costs incurred in processing a reservation and its subsequent cancellation. Cancellation fees are not a penalty but a recovery of those costs incurred. Fun Sun Vacations requires written notification of any cancellation and cancellation fees will be calculated from the date the Fun Sun Vacations receives notice of cancellation. Fun Sun Vacations' applicable cancellation fees are as shown below. All cancellations are also subject to any additional cancellation fees as may be applied by any of Fun Sun Vacations' various suppliers. Fun Sun Vacations reserves the right to re-sell any cancelled seats or accommodation without refund. All travel documents, once issued, must be returned to Fun Sun Vacations prior to any refund being considered.

AIR AND RAIL CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations received prior to ticketing are subject to a fee equal to the value of the deposit. The entire value of the fare becomes 100% non-refundable once ticketed. We reserve the right and may issue tickets at any time prior to departure due to: applicable fare ticketing rules, a passenger's request, or as protection against fare increases.

LAND ARRANGEMENTS CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations received up to 30 days prior to departure are subject to a cancellation fee equal to the value of the per person deposit; 29-15 days - 60% of total cost; and 14-0 days - 100% of total cost. If cancellation by one or more passengers alters the room requirements of the remaining passengers, those passengers still travelling must pay the revised rates.

CRUISE CANCELLATIONS: Cancellation fees vary by cruise line and may also vary based on the duration of the cruise that is being cancelled. See the cruise section for complete details.

REFUNDS cannot be guaranteed for any unused travel services or portions thereof, nor can the price or value of any unused travel service be exchanged. We therefore recommend the purchase of trip cancellation insurance. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather or illness; these must be claimed through your travel insurance. Fun Sun Vacations also will not refund vacation packages or travel reservations if the individual has not acquired the proper travel documents (visas and passports). Bank fees for credit card payments/bank transfers are strictly non-refundable. Fun Sun Vacations is not obliged to guarantee refund promises (written or verbal) made by local hotel staff, tour guides, or any other persons not under direct employ of Fun Sun Vacations.
All refunds, for cancelled or unused services if applicable, will normally be made to your travel agency on the basis of the amount actually received by Fun Sun Vacations less any applicable cancellation fees and charges. You are responsible for obtaining from your travel agency any monies either retained by the agency or received by the agency from Fun Sun Vacations.

Airlines

THE AIRLINES USED for transportation will be at the discretion of the tour operator and are subject to change. It is possible that original flight arrangements may change due to a number of reasons including but not limited to rescheduling, delays, oversold or cancelled flights. Fun Sun Vacations or the ticketed airline may provide alternative flights however they do not accept liability for any expenses resulting from any change or for any missed connections. Flight numbers and times form no part of the contract between the client, Fun Sun Vacations and the airline. It is the responsibility of all travellers to reconfirm all their flights with each airline as flight times are subject to change with or without prior notice to the passenger or his/her travel consultant.

ADVANCED SEAT SELECTION may be available for some flights (except exit rows). Fun Sun Vacations will automatically request seat selection at time of booking where this service is available. Advanced seat selection cannot be guaranteed and final seat allocation is at the sole discretion of the airline. Where advanced seat selection is not available, aircraft seats are allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis at the airport.

ELECTRONIC TICKETING (e-ticketing) is the default method of Fun Sun Vacations where available. A traditional paper ticket will only be issued if e-ticketing is unavailable or if a passenger requests a paper ticket. Electronic tickets cannot be reissued as paper tickets. Paper tickets issued by Fun Sun Vacations on flights eligible for electronic ticketing may be subject to an additional fee by the airline.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES vary by airline and as such, it is the traveller's responsibility to contact all airlines directly for information regarding their specific policies. Unless insured, all baggage is carried or transported at the owner's risk throughout the entire trip.

FLIGHT RECONFIRMATION AND CHECK-IN: It is strongly recommended that you verify both flight departure times and flight numbers at least 48 hours prior to your flight departure. Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible for any airline schedule or flight number changes after tickets have been issued. Due to increased air security measures, new luggage screening procedures and depending upon which airport and airline, all passengers are advised to check-in for all flights up to 3 hours prior to departure. Passengers who do not allow sufficient time for all check-in procedures may be denied boarding and no compensation will be provided for missed flights.

AIRLINE TICKET REFUNDS: All airline tickets issued by Fun Sun Vacations are non-transferable and valid only for the dates and routings shown on the tickets. If a paper airline ticket is lost, the passenger is responsible for the full cost of the replacement.

FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAMS: Fun Sun Vacations does not participate in, nor redeem points in any airline or cruise line frequent user programs. Fun Sun Vacations will be pleased to relay your membership number, if provided, to the applicable supplier for credit to your account for services booked and ticketed through Fun Sun Vacations. At the time of your flight check-in, we recommend you reconfirm at the airline counter that your points will be credited. A charge of $20 per ticket will apply for additional copies of your airline tickets requested from Fun Sun Vacations.

AIRLINE, AIRPORT OR WEATHER DELAYS that may cause additional expense or loss shall not be the responsibility of Fun Sun Vacations, nor will Fun Sun Vacations reimburse for any additional expenses incurred by the passengers (hotels, meals, etc.). Fun Sun Vacations will not refund any unused portion of the products purchased in the event of delays due to conditions beyond our control.

AIRFARE PROTECTION varies by airline against airfare increases, fuel surcharges and any other fees or taxes that may be imposed. Protection against airfare increases and fuel surcharges can only be assured once full payment of the airline ticket has been received in Fun Sun Vacations’ offices and the ticket has been issued. Protection against any other fees or taxes that may be imposed can never be guaranteed.

Accommodations

HOTEL RATINGS: Hotels are classified and rated based on Fun Sun Vacations’ own inspections; our assessments may not reflect opinions of other sources.

HOTEL SUBSTITUTIONS: Original, confirmed accommodation arrangements are subject to change and may be substituted at either the discretion of the hotel or Fun Sun Vacations. A credit will be issued for accommodations when substitute accommodation is priced lower than the accommodation originally booked. If the hotel accommodation substituted is at a higher price than originally booked, a surcharge for the difference may be charged.

CHECK-IN AND CHECKOUT TIMES: Regardless of flight arrival and departure times, most hotels expect guests to check-in after 3 PM and check out by 12 Noon to allow for cleaning and servicing of the rooms. Storage of your luggage is available at most hotels. Your patience and understanding is requested if your room is not available upon your arrival.
EARLY CHECK-IN AND LATE CHECKOUT: You may want to consider purchasing an additional night should you have a very early arrival or very late departure. Some hotels do offer a reduced rate for this service when booked at the time of original reservations; note it is non-refundable if unused.

ROOMS will be assigned upon arrival. Bedding type and special requests cannot be guaranteed and no refund will be made if ever the hotel is not able to fulfill the request(s) made. Bedding type and all special requests are at the discretion of the hotelier and will be allocated based on availability at check-in. Fun Sun Vacations, will take no responsibility if hotels do not comply.

HOTEL FACILITIES AND SERVICES: Fun Sun Vacations makes every effort to ensure that the hotel and room amenities information described in our brochures and website is current. Changes to, or withdrawal of services may occur without notice due to factors such as weather or lack of demand and therefore Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible for any inconvenience you may encounter as a result.
Note: Hotel rooms in many countries are often smaller than the equivalent North American rooms and bedding for double occupancy often only consists of 2 twin beds.

HOTEL FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED: Details shown are based on the information Fun Sun Vacations has received from the property. Any notice of handicapped facilities does not necessarily imply that all property facilities are wheelchair accessible or that there are no stairs in the facility. Please describe in detail to your travel consultant your personal needs so that the most appropriate accommodation can be reserved for you.

CRIBS AND COTS: Fun Sun Vacations cannot guarantee the availability of cribs and cots at any property and generally additional charges apply and are payable directly to the supplier. When requesting a crib or cot, the total number of occupants in a guest room cannot exceed the maximum occupancy allowed.

ADDED VALUE features do not have cash value and cannot be refunded either in whole or in part. Unless stated as guaranteed, the added value feature of a Free Room Upgrade is provided strictly on a space available basis at time of check-in and cannot be guaranteed prior to your arrival.

ALL AND SEMI-INCLUSIVE HOTELS AND RESORTS: Complimentary sporting and social activities; beers, wines and liquors; amenities and entertainment features may be limited and vary by property. All complimentary features are subject to withdrawal by the property at any time. Complimentary features provided by the property do not constitute a cost component of your vacation and therefore are non-refundable if unavailable or withdrawn. At all-inclusive and semi-inclusive hotels, property privileges commence at check-in and discontinue upon checkout.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, RENOVATIONS AND NEW CONSTRUCTION: All hotels have a routine maintenance program and therefore use of some hotel amenities such as elevators and swimming pools undergoing servicing or cleaning may be limited or not available during your stay.
Hotels will make every effort to ensure your stay is not adversely affected by any renovations or construction that may be taking place at their property during your stay. If Fun Sun Vacations is advised that significant work at your hotel will be in progress during your stay or any major facilities will not be available, we will try to advise you prior to departure.
In some popular resort areas there is considerable on-going construction by civic authorities. In all cases however, Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible for any interruption and/or inconvenience you may encounter as a result.

Escorted Tours

ESCORTED TOUR ITINERARY CHANGES: As escorted tours are planned many months prior to departure, occasionally it is necessary to make changes. The majority of these changes will be minor and the supplier reserves the right to make them whenever it is necessary. Where significant changes are made, your travel consultant will be notified as soon as possible.

MINIMUM PASSENGER REQUIREMENTS: A minimum number of bookings are required to operate a tour and also to ensure an enjoyable group atmosphere. Where sufficient numbers cannot be achieved, the supplier reserves the right to cancel a scheduled departure. The decision to operate the tour is usually made by the supplier 60 days prior to the scheduled tour departure date, however in some instances, this decision may not be available until 30 days prior to the departure date. We will advise you and your travel consultant as soon as possible if your tour departure has been changed or cancelled.

ESCORTED TOUR CANCELLATIONS OR ALTERATIONS: The supplier reserves the right, where necessary, to cancel, re-schedule or alter any tour departure at any time where unforeseen circumstances arise. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to: war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather and/or traffic conditions, government action or for any reason outside the operator’s control. In the event the tour is cancelled prior to departure date, the supplier shall endeavour to offer the nearest possible alternative tour or, if this is not acceptable, refund the tour portion of your travel arrangements in full. No additional compensation will be awarded.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES vary by tour coach company and some companies may limit the dimensions and/or weight of the luggage piece. Porterage for one suitcase on tour is usually included in the tour price however; a daily charge may be applied and collected by the tour director if a second piece of baggage is carried, or if the suitcase exceeds the established dimensions and/or weight. Fun Sun Vacations recommends using one medium-sized suitcase and one carry-on per person and cautions that some companies cannot carry excess or overweight luggage. Personal items such as make-up, cameras, etc. can be carried on board the tour coach in a travel bag. For safety reasons, wheeled carry-on bags are not suitable as hand luggage on motor coaches and mini-buses. Unless insured, all baggage is carried or transported at the owner’s risk throughout the entire trip.

DEPARTURE AND TRAVEL INFORMATION: Most escorted tours are operated on very tight schedules and the departure times stated are generally the tour bus departure times. Fun Sun Vacations recommends you arrive at the pick-up site 15 minutes before the stated time. No refund or compensation will be provided to any passenger who does not arrive in time for boarding. Note: You may wish to bring water, as it’s not provided on the coach.

TOUR COACH SEATING: Special tour coach seating requests must be advised at time of booking but cannot be guaranteed. On overnight and longer tours however, seats are usually rotated on a daily basis. Fun Sun Vacations cannot accept any responsibility if seating is not as requested.

TOUR PARTICIPATION: For the benefit of everyone on your vacation, Fun Sun Vacations and/or its tour suppliers reserve the right to accept or reject any person as a tour participant, and to remove from the tour any participant whose conduct is deemed incompatible with the interests of the other participants.

Transfers

COMPLETE INFORMATION: concerning arrivals and departures must be provided at the time of original reservation; otherwise, no transfers will be provided. Fun Sun Vacations will not be held liable for missed transfers in the event of delays due to conditions beyond our control.

Car Rentals

RENTAL CAR INFORMATION: All drivers must be a minimum of 21 - 25 years of age, depending upon the destination, and in possession of a valid driver’s license and a major credit card. A cash deposit may also be required. If you do not possess a valid credit card, the purchase of insurance is mandatory and a cash deposit may be required. Various taxes are not included in your prepaid rental agreement and are payable directly to the car rental company.

ADDITIONAL FEES apply and are paid locally for young drivers (usually 21 - 24 years, although ages vary by country), additional drivers, personal effects insurance, supplemental liability insurance, personal accident insurance and loss damage waiver.

CAR RENTAL AGREEMENTS are for the exact number of days shown on your car rental voucher and rates are based on a 24-hour clock. Vehicles must be returned on or before the pick-up time shown on the rental agreement or be subject to an additional full day’s charge. No refunds will be made on car rentals of less than 24 hours. For renters who have a late departure from their destination, Fun Sun Vacations recommends booking the vehicle for an extra day at time of original reservation. The additional one-day cost will ensure you have the full use of the vehicle until you depart. An unused extra day is not refundable.

CREDIT CARD AND PERSONAL INSURANCE COVERAGE: Credit card protection packages to replace the Loss Damage Waiver costs only (not the liability fee) are secondary coverage and are not recognized in all destinations and may not be accepted by some car rental companies. Also, conditions and coverage’s vary widely from one company to another. Consult with your credit card company and the car rental company for complete details regarding coverage’s, limitations and coverage requirements.

LIABILITY INSURANCE is required by law when driving a vehicle to protect against third party claims. In some destinations the car rental company is required to include liability insurance in their rates however; coverage is usually only for a minimal amount. The purchase of Supplemental Liability Insurance can increase the coverage amount. In destinations where the car rental company is not required to include liability insurance, the renter is responsible for purchasing coverage from the car rental company or providing proof of adequate coverage through their own personal policy or by other means. In some destinations law requires the purchase of liability insurance from the car rental company.

CHILD SAFETY SEATS are mandatory in all destinations. While specific laws vary by destination, generally all children under 6 years of age or who weigh less than 60 pounds are required to be secured in child safety seats. Child safety seats can be rented directly from the car rental company.

Cruises

DETAILED INFORMATION BY CRUISE LINE

• Carnival Cruises

DEPOSITS for all cruises are per person and, vary based upon the cruise line and the specific itinerary chosen. Please ask your travel consultant to contact Fun Sun Vacations for the correct deposit amount.

FINAL PAYMENTS for all cruises must be received in Fun Sun Vacations’ office a minimum of 45 days prior to departure and depending upon the cruise line and the specific itinerary chosen, may be required as early as 75 days prior to departure. Please click on the above link or ask your travel consultant to contact Fun Sun Vacations for the correct final payment deadline. Bookings requested and confirmed within the final payment deadline will require full payment at time of booking.
Note: In the event of a late reservation, cruise tickets may be issued to passengers upon arrival at the embarkation pier.

CHILD RATES are not available on all cruise lines and where permitted, infants must be at least 4 months of age to travel. Please click on the above link or ask your travel consultant to contact Fun Sun Vacations to inquire on the availability of child rates for the cruise you have selected.

CANCELLATION OF CRUISE ARRANGEMENTS for all cruises are per person and, vary based upon the cruise line and the specific itinerary being cancelled. Please click on the above link or ask your travel consultant to contact Fun Sun Vacations for the correct cancellation penalties.

CHANGE IN CRUISE ITINERARY: When practicable, all cruise lines will promptly notify guests of a pre-cruise itinerary change through Fun Sun Vacations and/or their travel consultants. If an itinerary change occurs while a ship is at sea or when notice prior to sailing is not feasible, the cruise line shall attempt to substitute an alternative port. No compensation shall be provided to passengers when an alternative port is offered. If an alternative port is not provided, guests may be provided a shipboard credit. No further compensation will be provided after the cruise.

Travel Documents and Special Requests

DOCUMENTATION: It is your responsibility to ensure that you have all the documentation necessary for each country you plan to visit or transit. The name on your valid passport or proof of citizenship must match name on your airline ticket. Most countries require that the passport be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the conclusion of your trip. Fun Sun Vacations recommends that you check with your travel consultant and advise him or her of your nationality/citizenship so that the correct documentation can be determined and obtained at your expense. A valid passport or proof of citizenship is required for re-entry into Canada. Children and infants also require proof of citizenship and date of birth and, for destinations requiring a passport; children must have separate passport identification. Parents, especially those with different surnames from their children, should carry documentation proving custodial rights. Also, special notarized documentation is required for unaccompanied minors and for single parents travelling with their children; ask your travel consultant for details. In the event you do not obtain the required documentation, you may be denied boarding by the air carrier or refused entry into the country of transit or destination. A criminal record can also lead to denial of entry or passage to certain destinations. Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible for passengers who are denied boarding or entry. Full cancellation fees are applicable to all passengers denied boarding or entry into another country.

TRAVEL TICKETS: For our air only bookings, an e-ticket will be e-mailed or faxed to your travel agent or you can go to www.virtuallythere.com to print your ticket. If you are purchasing a full package a Fun Sun Vacations ticket wallet containing your tickets, vouchers and baggage tags will be forwarded to your travel consultant on fully paid bookings at least 15 working days prior to departure. In the case of domestic and USA-bound flights, Fun Sun Vacations will substitute paper tickets by electronic confirmation (e-ticket) to be transmitted via fax or email to your travel consultant.

LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: Please note that all bookings made eight (8) days prior to the date of departure are deemed to be last minute bookings and it may be necessary to forward your travel documents to your travel consultant via courier service for which an additional fee will apply.

SPECIAL REQUESTS for particular rooms, room location, bed types and/or other services, other than those published in Fun Sun Vacations’ brochures are never to be considered guaranteed. Special requests should be requested at the time of original booking and may be subject to additional charges payable directly to the local supplier. Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible if these special requests are not met. Requests for complimentary accommodation upgrades (where these upgrades are available at a published price) are not possible.

PASSENGERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: Fun Sun Vacations must be advised of special requirements at the time of booking and we will make every effort to accommodate special requests, but cannot confirm a reservation until all travel suppliers have acknowledged that they can provide the services requested. There may be a charge for some services such as special transfers. Fun Sun Vacations or its suppliers may have to deny boarding if prior notification is not given — even with medical certificate.

LOST TICKETS AND VOUCHERS: If any airline ticket, admission ticket or voucher is lost, stolen or unused the passenger is responsible for the full cost of the replacement.

Fun Sun Vacations is responsible for personal information we hold or have under our control, including personal information, that with your permission, we pass on to other suppliers to make your reservation. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

It is the responsibility of our Privacy Protection Officer to ensure our compliance with legislation and our Privacy Protection Policy. Our Privacy Protection Officer will receive and respond to your inquiries and complaints regarding the protection and privacy of your personal information, and deal with requests for access to your information.

Insurance

VACATION INSURANCE: Fun Sun Vacations strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance as protection in the event of cancellation, unforeseen medical expenses due to accidents or sickness, loss or theft of personal property. Insurance rates vary by cost of services purchased, age of passengers, length of trip and the destination you are travelling to. Please have your travel consultant refer you to the different insurance coverages available.

INSURANCE: Fun Sun Vacations does not sell any travel insurance. If you would like to purchase medical or cancellation insurance for a Fun Sun Vacations package, please contact your travel agent immediately.

DESCRIBING OUR TRAVEL SERVICES: The beauty, colour and attractions of the destinations featured in travel brochures delight millions every year. Every effort has been taken to ensure that the information and photographs contained in Fun Sun Vacations’ web site and brochures are accurate, however the occasional error or change may occur after publishing. Your selection of a vacation to see these areas of the world must be made with that knowledge. If Fun Sun Vacations is advised of any significant change that may affect the enjoyment of your vacation, we will do our best to inform you in advance. Note: Hotel room photographs (graphics) may not be specific to the actual room occupied and maps may not be to scale.

IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING TRAVEL SAFETY: Fun Sun Vacations and its various suppliers provide services in a large number of countries around the world. At any given moment there are likely to be “trouble spots” in the world in terms of crime and/or war or terrorist actions. While Fun Sun Vacations and its various suppliers endeavour to provide reasonable protection, they cannot guarantee freedom from all risks associated with war, terrorism, crime or other potential sources of harm. The Canadian Government regularly issues advisories and warnings to travellers giving details of local conditions in specified cities and countries according to its perception of risks to Canadian travellers. We strongly recommend that passengers and their travel consultants obtain and consider such information when making travel decisions.

WEATHER: Fun Sun Vacations is not responsible for any loss or inconvenience you may encounter as a result of weather conditions. Fun Sun Vacations will not reimburse for any additional expenses incurred by passengers for air fares, hotels, meals, attraction passes, etc., nor will Fun Sun Vacations refund any unused portion of any products purchased in the event of delays or closures due to weather conditions.

INSECTS: While regular insect control programs are in place at most hotels in tropical climates, insects can still be found in deluxe hotels as often as in budget properties! Insect infestations are beyond the control of Fun Sun Vacations’ and your concerns regarding such infestations should be made directly to the hotel front desk as soon as you become aware of the problem.

ILLNESSES AND INCONVENIENCES: Fun Sun Vacations bears no responsibility for the behaviour of other guests/groups or for any illness contracted or inconvenience experienced resulting from any services provided or omitted at a destination and outside the reasonable control of Fun Sun Vacations. Nor does Fun Sun Vacations accept any responsibility for the withdrawal of services or closure of facilities due to local cultural and political events or holidays. Such circumstances are usually regulated by local governments and are beyond Fun Sun Vacations’ control.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM or experience some difficulties during your vacation, it is your responsibility to immediately contact the local Fun Sun Vacations’ representative or supplier representative. They will do everything possible to ensure your problem is resolved. If for some reason your problem is not solved at your destination and notwithstanding anything in our brochures; if it is your intention to make a claim against Fun Sun Vacations, you are required to advise us in writing within 21 days of your return. Your letter of claim must be provided to your travel consultant for forwarding to our offices within the 21-day period. Your failure while at the destination to contact the local Fun Sun Vacations’ representative and/or the supplier’s representative, and to provide us with written notice within 21 days of your return will preclude your right to pursue a claim.

GOOD VALUE EXPECTATIONS: The Ministry of Consumer Relations requires tour operators to caution Canadians travelling abroad that they may encounter lower standards of living and conditions when visiting some destinations outside Canada. The provision and reliability of some utilities, local services, local health conditions, levels of security and standards of food, beverages and accommodation may vary and be a lower standard than generally experienced in Canada. Fun Sun Vacations believes that all of its published vacations will provide you with enjoyment.

A WORD OF CAUTION ABOUT TIME SHARE PROMOTIONS: During the past few years, Time Share condominiums and hotel rooms have become increasingly popular. Sales persons in resort areas have, on occasion, masqueraded as tour operator representatives both in hotels and on transfer buses. These people do not represent Fun Sun Vacations and no Fun Sun Vacations’ representative will attempt to sell you on the “Time Share” concept.
Fun Sun Vacations and our local representatives do not encourage or solicit these ventures and we recommend travelers exercise caution before becoming involved. You are urged to be wary of offers for free meals or discounted tours as these are often offered and generally involve time-share sales promotions.

RESPONSIBILITY: Fun Sun Vacations is a travel and vacation organizer only. We do not control or operate any airline, neither do we own or control any shipping company, hotel, transportation companies, or any other facility or service mentioned in our brochures. We take care in selecting the services included in your vacation but cannot be held responsible for any injury, death, loss or damage that is caused by the acts or omissions of these suppliers. Participation in the tour, any activity or excursion, or in any service suggested, is entirely at the passenger’s risk. Fun Sun Vacations and/or its suppliers cannot assume liability for any loss, damage or, physical or emotional injury of any nature resulting from an Act of God or any other force majeure. Nor can we accept responsibility for losses or other expenses due to delay or changes in air schedules or other services, sickness, strike, terrorism, war, quarantine or other causes. All such losses will be the responsibility of the passenger. All baggage is carried at the owner’s risk. The right is reserved to decline or accept any person as a member of the tour or to refuse to retain a member of the group. The airline companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passenger is not aboard their aircraft. The passenger’s contract in use by the airlines, when issued, shall be the sole contract between the carrier and passenger. This contract, regardless of where it is performed, shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the place of departure from Canada. The provisions in this agreement are non-severable.
